This Years Picnic by Jim WB6YAM

Talk in Frequency-

The talk in frequency will be the KI6FKX repeater located atop of Mount Toro between Monterey & Salinas on 146.655 -600 tone/PL 94.8. Coverage from the north starts around Gilroy on Hwy 101, Santa Cruz on Hwy 1 and from the south around Gonzales on Hwy 101. This repeater will be monitored starting early Friday through Sunday for WPSS traffic.  Just call for WPSS Control, Sharon KI6FKX or Jim WB6YAM.

When:  Saturday, July 31st, 2010 (Note: Many people arrive a day or two early and stay through Sunday.)

The Laguna Seca Recreation Area, 1025 Monterey Highway 68, Salinas, CA

Our location within the recreational area is the Chaparral “B” Campgrounds located between Roads A and B, near the Community Meeting Room. Detailed directions to recreational area are on the Monterey County Parks web site.

Essentially, coming from US101, take exit 326B, towards the Monterey Peninsula, in Salinas. From the southbound exit, make a right on South Sanborn Rd. From the northbound exit, make a left on Fairview Ave, then left on South Sanborn. South Sanborn Rd becomes E. BLANCO RD. Turn left on S. MAIN ST (Highway 68) and travel for about 8.8 miles until you reach the recreational area.

You should not be required to pay the $6.00 day use fee if you mention that you are with the WPSS group in Chaparral Campgrounds “B”

Lunch: A scrumptious lunch will be served about noon on Saturday at a maximum cost of $10 per person.  Click for Menu

In your RV/Camping reservation please include all of the following that applies:

·        Your full name(s)
 

·        Call Sign(s)
 

·        Estimated arrival and departure dates & times
 

·        Your RV license number
 

·        The license number of your support or tow vehicle
 

·        RV spaces are $33.00 per night and include water and electricity
 

·        Tent camping spaces are available for $30.00 per night. (No stakes through asphalt please)
 

·        Checks made payable to “WPSS” should be turned over to Sharon KI6FKX at the picnic on Saturday.
 

·        A list of local motels & hotels are available for you via email or fax, simply request it.
